Can You Bike Red Rock Canyon?
The quick answer is yes! You are more than welcome to bike around Red Rock Canyon. But, there are a few rules you must follow. First of all, bicycles are only allowed in certain areas. These locations include the one-way Scenic Drive, paved spur roads, and designated mountain bike trails. As such, bikes are not permitted on any of the designated hiking trails. This is for the safety of other hikers and to maintain the condition of the hiking trails.
🏜 NOTE: For those who don’t know, spur roads are paved roads that branch off from the main paved road
Another thing to be aware of is that motor vehicle regulations for bicycles apply while in the Conservation Area. Essentially, if you have a motorized scooter or are using an e-bike within Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, you have to follow the regulations of motorized vehicles. This means no off-roading — only staying on designated roads. So as long as you follow these rules listed on the official Red Rock Canyon website, you can bike through Red Rock Canyon.
But, if you’re new to the area or want to avoid unintentionally breaking the rules, then the best way to enjoy Red Rock Canyon on two or three wheels is by booking one of the many amazing bike tours available. Why Do a Red Rock Canyon Bike Tour?
To be honest, if you have the financial means and time and are genuinely interested in partaking in this awesome experience, there’s almost no reason not to go…At least, those are the three main things I ask myself when trying to decide if something is worth it. But, if you’re still on the fence about doing a Red Rock Canyon bike tour, here are a few reasons I would recommend going.
First, you’ll have access to a knowledgeable and friendly guide who can guide you through the canyon. They’re experts who know all the best spots – from trails to vistas. This means you don’t have to about getting lost or not being able to find all the best views.
Second, if you don’t have a car, or even if you do, it’s the best way to explore the scenic landscape. It’s also a great way to get some fresh air in the great outdoors! The views of Red Rock Canyon are quite amazing, and it’s pretty awesome to look both ways and see these massive rock formations looming on either side of you.
Lastly, let’s be frank- a bike tour through Red Rock Canyon is a fun and unique experience. You would be embarking on a thrilling adventure and getting to do something that you probably don’t normally do! And for me, my best travel memories are always the crazy experiences, like paragliding in Switzerland or visiting Auschwitz in Poland.

What to Bring for Red Rock Canyon Bike Tours
To make sure that you have a fabulous time on your bike tour, here are some things to consider bringing with you! (The most important takeaway is to check the weather and dress appropriately.)
- 🥾 Closed-toe shoes: You’re expected to wear good closed-toe shoes for each of the tour experiences. This is for your protection and safety from the elements. No one likes getting a flip-flop stuck in a wheel or tiny rocks getting stuck between your shoe and the bottom of a sandal!
- 🧤 Gloves: If you are doing a bike tour during the wintertime, consider bringing gloves if you have them! The air in the desert region gets pretty cold during the winter time and you’ll have a harder time maintaining control of your bike if your hands are numb.
- 💨 Windbreaker: Unless it is peak summertime, consider bringing a jacket. You can go fairly quickly on the e-bikes and may get cold from zooming so fast. But again, check the weather!
- 🕶 Sunglasses: I recommend bringing sunglasses because the sun can be quite intense in the desert region. Also, you want to protect your eyes from any pesky bugs flying in while you’re biking because I can personally confirm it sucks.
- 🎒 Backpack: If you’re planning on bringing snacks, a nice camera, or want to carry some extra supplies, you may want to bring a nice backpack. Just make sure you can comfortably carry it while riding!
Are There Red Rock Canyon ATV Tours?
Unfortunately, there are no Red Rock Canyon ATV tours offered right now. My guess is that is because there’s no need for expensive all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). This is because rules state that OHVs (off-highway vehicles) are only allowed on approved roads and certain trails located south of the main Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area.
That said, there are Trike Tours available. And who knows, perhaps Red Rock Canyon ATV tours will be an option in the future! But, in the meantime, there are plenty of other fantastic tours for those seeking an exciting way to explore Red Rock Canyon and its stunning views. Below are just a few tours to check out if the bike tours above aren’t doing it for yah.
- Motorized Scooter Tour: ⭐️ 5/5 | ⏳ ~4 hours long
- Scooter Car Tour: ⭐️ 5/5 | ⏳ ~4.5 hours long
- Horseback riding tour: ⭐️ 5/5 | ⏳ ~5 hours long
- Trike Tour: ⭐️ 5/5 | ⏳ ~2 hours long
