Is a Tapas Tour in Barcelona Worth It?
In my completely biased opinion, a tapas tour in Barcelona is 100% worth it. First, Barcelona has some of the best tapas in the world! A tour allows you to sample a wide range of specialties all in one go, without having to research each place. You get instant access to all the local favorites that the majority of tourists miss, and it could be for a price as low as $43!
Second, going with a tour group means that you get access to an expert guide who knows the history and culture behind Spanish cooking. This not only makes for a much more memorable experience but also allows you to pick up some useful tips on hidden gems to visit during the rest of your stay in the city.
In addition, these tours are designed to be social — so they’re an awesome way to meet locals and other travelers alike. You’ll be able to chat with your tour guide, ask questions, and make some new friends in the process!
Finally, at the end of the day, we all have to eat at some point and there’s nothing quite like going on an immersive food tour to delight your taste buds. Thus, you might as well eat like a king and queen because it’s not every day you’re discovering a new city and culture!
Tips for Planning Your Food Tour in Barcelona
- ✅ Book ahead of time: Due to the popularity of food tours, try to book your experience ahead of time. That way you avoid missing out on your preferred time slots or experiences that fill up quickly.
- 📆 Schedule tours early: I recommend scheduling your food tour as early in your trip as possible! This way you can get an overview of the city and can ask your guide for insider details on places to visit during the rest of your stay! Plus, it’s always fun to start on a high note!
- 🍴 Have dietary restrictions?: Be sure to tell the food tour guide in advance of any dietary restrictions and allergies you have. They can normally make accommodations as long as you let them know ahead of time.
- 🍷 Don’t drink on an empty stomach: As I mentioned earlier, for more wine-focused tours like the Cocktail class or day tours, be sure to eat something ahead of time! Excessive amounts of alcohol on an empty stomach is not fun… *from my personal experience 🫠*
- 🌞 Check the weather: Check the weather before you leave and plan accordingly.
- 🚗 Check departure points and times: Make sure to double-check the meeting point for your tour and take into account the time it’ll take you to get there from your housing accommodations. Only a couple of the tours include direct pick-up from your hotel.
- 📸 Bring your Camera: Capture the experience & take plenty of pictures so you can share your story with friends & family back home!
- 🤠 Enjoy the experience: Above all else, make sure to relax, have fun & immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Barcelona! Bon Appetit! 🍽️😊
